Saturday 18th March 2006 Caterham Schools event

If you can play chess and live in East Surrey you are welcome to play in the Caterham schools' Spring tournament at Whyteleafe School on Saturday 18 th March. You will play 5 games during the morning (this is NOT an all day competition) and nobody is knocked out. Each time you will play somebody with a similar score to your own. Trophies are awarded to more than half of the competitors who play in 4 age groups: under 7 (year 2 and younger in Infant schools), under 9 (years 3 and 4), under 11 (years 5 and 6) and under 14 (years 7, 8 and 9)

Parents do NOT have to be present (and may like the opportunity of doing some shopping without their children) but are welcome to stay if they wish to congratulate/console children between rounds. Refreshments will be available so entrants might like to bring a small amount of money to buy crisps, biscuits or a drink.

Times Arrive: 8.45 a.m.

Round times:

Round 1: 9.00- 9.20 Round 2: 9.30- 9.55

Round 3: 10.05- 10.35 Round 4: 10.45-11.20

Round 5: 11.40-12.15

(As you can see the round times get longer as, we hope, the children get used to playing more slowly.)

Prize giving: 12.30

No entries can be accepted on the day of the competition .
